National Apprenticeship Week - Supporting the Next Generation of Electricians

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of visiting the College of West Anglia to speak with the Level 2 Electrical Installation students about our company, the commercial and industrial projects we deliver, and the opportunities available through our Apprenticeship Programme, while also discussing what life on site is really like — including the early starts (because apparently 7am comes around very quickly!) — and the skills needed to build a successful career in the industry.

As a business, we strongly believe in investing in young talent and developing skilled electricians who can grow with us. Apprenticeships provide invaluable hands-on experience alongside structured learning — a powerful combination for anyone serious about a career in electrical installation.

We are proud to continue investing in the next generation of electricians by taking on 1–2 apprentices every year. We currently have 10 apprentices employed across the business at various stages of their training and development, all gaining experience across a wide range of commercial and industrial projects. Our apprentices are a hugely important part of our business and play a key role in the future growth of the company.

What makes this especially meaningful for us is that apprenticeships are deeply rooted in our own story. In fact, 3 of our 4 directors originally started their careers as apprentices with the company. That progression highlights exactly what can be achieved through hard work, dedication, and the right opportunities and support. We are passionate about creating an environment where young people can learn, develop confidence, and build long-term careers within the industry.

It was great to meet so many enthusiastic students, answer their questions, and hopefully give them a real insight into the opportunities available within the electrical industry. A big thank you to the staff and students at the College of West Anglia for having us — we look forward to continuing to support and encourage the next generation entering the trade.
